From Private to Commercial — Within Your Degree
Our Associate of Aeronautical Science Degree program takes you from your Private Pilot certificate through to your Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and CFI ratings — all within a structured, accredited curriculum.
Housing & Book Stipends

Approved for VA Benefits
Explore Associate Degree programs in professional pilot training, aviation management, and aviation maintenance management. Each program provides a structured academic pathway and may be eligible for VA Education Benefits, subject to individual eligibility. Graduates of both the Airline Pilot Track and the Flight Instructor Track may be eligible to apply for an R-ATP certificate at 1,250 flight hours, subject to FAA requirements.

Obtain Your Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
Apply for your education benefits through VA.gov to receive your COE, which outlines your exact coverage level and entitlement percentage.
Secure Your FAA Medical Certificate
For students enrolling in the Aeronautical Science Degree, obtain a 1st Class FAA Medical Certificate before acceptance to confirm eligibility for flight training. Alternatively, sign a waiver prior to acceptance.
Submit Your Transcripts
Request your military transcripts via the Joint Services Transcript (JST) Portal (Army/Navy/Marines/Coast Guard) or Parchment Portal (Air Force/Space Force), along with your high school transcript and any previous college transcripts.
Meet with Our VA Advisor
Complete the Veterans Data Enrollment Questionnaire and meet with our School Certifying Official to map out your academic and financial plan. We handle the paperwork.
Start Your College Career and Flying
Once accepted and certified, your first flight or simulator session takes place within the first 7 days of the semester if you are enrolled in the AAS degree program. Your new mission begins.

Common Questions
from Veterans
Does the GI Bill® cover my Private Pilot License (PPL)?
Yes — but only because Wayman College of Aeronautics is an approved Institution of Higher Learning offering an aviation degree that includes your PPL.
Can VA Education Benefits cover extra flight hours if I need more practice?
VA Education Benefits cover only the minimum flight hours required by the FAA syllabus. If you require remedial flights or additional hours to pass a checkride, those costs are the student’s responsibility. Our structured Part 141 syllabus is designed to minimize this risk.
Do I get the housing stipend year-round?
A housing allowance may be available during the months you are actively enrolled in classes, subject to your benefit chapter, eligibility level, and enrollment status. Contact the VA or our VA Advisor for information specific to your benefits.
Are application fees covered by the VA?
No, the initial school application fee is not covered by VA benefits and must be paid by the student. Contact our admissions team for current fee information.
