Step 2

Prepare Your Co-Signer

Ensure your co-signer has their Social Security Number, recent pay stubs, and financial obligation details ready. Providing accurate income and employment information upfront prevents manual reviews and helps secure a lower interest rate for your loan.

Step 3

Submit the Online Application

Fill out the online Career Training Smart Option Student Loan® application with your co-signer to receive a credit decision in minutes. Choose your preferred interest rate and repayment plan, then electronically sign the documents to submit them for certification.

Step 4

School Certification Process

Sallie Mae sends your approved application to our finance team for mandatory internal verification. We certify your enrollment status and confirm that the requested loan amount matches your program’s cost, ensuring you borrow exactly what is needed.

Step 5

Final Review & Disbursement

Sign the Final Loan Disclosure to authorize the funds, which are sent directly to Wayman College. We apply the tuition to your account and disburse any living expense funds to you, officially clearing you to begin your flight training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Check Airmen make more money?

Yes. At major airlines, Check Airmen usually earn an "Override" (extra pay) of 15–25% above their standard Captain's rate.

How do I become a DPE (Designated Pilot Examiner)?

This is a long-term goal. You usually need thousands of hours of instruction given and a strong relationship with your local FSDO. DPEs are appointed by the FAA to conduct checkrides on their behalf.

Is advanced aviation only for older pilots?

No. In 2026, we see younger pilots moving into management and specialized instruction roles earlier than ever due to the shortage. If you have the skill and the maturity, the path is open.
