- Flight Path: Depart from North Perry Airport, fly east over Sunny Isles and Aventura, then head south along Miami Beach, including views of South Beach and back around.
- In-Flight Experience: With a Certified Flight Instructor, you’ll learn to keep the plane flying straight and level.
- Eligibility: Open to individuals aged 15 and above; all healthy individuals are welcome.
- Weight Limit: Maximum combined weight of 350 lbs;
- Sponsor or legal guardian can join the flight.
- Note: This is an interactive flight experience, not a sightseeing tour.
What is a Discovery Flight?
In just one hour, you’ll know if flying is something you love or not. If you decide it’s not for you, at least you’ll have an exciting story to tell about a great day in the sky. But if you can’t stop smiling after landing, chances are you’ll want to keep flying forever.
Wayman College of Aeronautics offers Discovery Flights for anyone curious about becoming a pilot. These flights are a hands-on way to experience what it’s like to sit in the cockpit and take control of an aircraft. They last about an hour and are highly recommended for those interested in aviation.
During your flight, you’ll sit in the pilot’s seat while a certified flight instructor sits beside you, guiding you every step of the way. You’ll take off from Hollywood-North Perry Airport, fly east toward Miami Beach, and then head south past South Beach and Key Biscayne. As you soar through the sky, your instructor will show you how to keep the plane steady and level while you enjoy breathtaking views of Miami from above.
If you’re a U.S. citizen or have TSA clearance, you can even start logging your flight time in an official pilot’s logbook.
- Scheduling: Book at least 48 hours in advance; flights are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm.
- Optimal Conditions: Morning flights are best for cooler temperatures and smoother air.
- Cancellations: Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel. If the weather isn’t good for flying, we’ll reschedule at no extra cost.
- Capture the Moment: Bring a fully charged phone or camera to take photos of your experience.
