The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) and Wayman Aviation Academy (WAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at cooperating in the educational and research areas.

The agreement will allow both organizations to develop and promote professional training programs and conduct joint research projects.

“ALTA remains committed to supporting aviation professionals in Latin America and Caribbean to access vocational training programs. That is why we develop partnerships with different specialized players to reach more people in more places. We are pleased to sign this agreement with WAA and work together in shaping a stronger future for the region, providing new and better tools and knowledge to more professionals in our industry”, comments José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.

Wayman Aviation Academy is the largest and longest running flight school in South Florida with 35 years of launching pilot careers into the skies above Miami and the rest of the world. The school has 6 airline partners including SkyWest and Republic Airways which fly for American Airlines, United, and Delta, and operates a fleet of 40+ aircraft across 2 bases at Hollywood North Perry Airport (KHWO) and Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF). Wayman Aviation partners with Florida Memorial University, Miami-Dade College, and Liberty University for degree programs.

Vice President Wayman Aviation Academy, Eddy Luy, says “this partnership will help airlines throughout the Caribbean and Latin America build cadet programs to tackle the world-wide pilot shortage with quality FAA approved training in Miami”.

“ALTA will soon be launching an educational hub on its website www.alta.aero so that everyone can learn about the partnerships we have developed and the benefits that our members and industry professionals can access in terms of training, research and development,” Botelho adds.

ALTA is the Latin American & Caribbean Air Transport Association. They represent airlines through the region hosting safety, operations, and leadership gatherings.
